Overview
The project is an innovative biomedical waste management solution that redefines waste as a valuable resource rather than a disposal problem. It introduces a sustainable, technology-driven approach to collecting, processing, and converting biomedical waste into reusable materials, contributing to environmental protection and the circular economy.
The solution addresses one of the major challenges faced by hospitals and healthcare institutions—the safe disposal of biomedical waste. Instead of relying solely on conventional disposal methods, the system utilizes a Resource Conversion Model to scientifically process waste and recover useful materials such as plastics, glass, and metals. This significantly reduces landfill dependency while minimizing environmental and public health risks.
Designed with efficiency in mind, the technology is capable of processing approximately 1 kilogram of biomedical waste in around 15 minutes, making it suitable for healthcare facilities requiring reliable and scalable waste management solutions.
The project has gained recognition for its innovation through multiple patents and collaborations with leading research and industrial organizations, including KSIDC and CSIR–NIIST. These collaborations have strengthened the technological foundation of the system and validated its practical applications.
Beyond waste disposal, the project promotes a sustainable business model by creating economic value from materials that would otherwise be discarded. It demonstrates how scientific innovation can solve critical environmental challenges while supporting resource conservation and responsible healthcare practices.
